Frequently asked questions
Answers about finding boats, contacting operators and listing with HejBoat.
What is HejBoat?
HejBoat helps travelers discover boats and boat tours and contact private owners and professional operators. Bookings and payments are arranged directly between the traveler and the operator.
Can I book or pay on HejBoat?
No. HejBoat does not offer checkout or process rental payments. You arrange the booking and payment directly with the operator. HejBoat does not charge commission on bookings.
Are the boats available to rent?
You can send an inquiry about a listing, but the operator must confirm availability, price and rental terms. Sending an inquiry does not reserve a boat. Demo listings remain visible in search and are clearly marked. They are illustrative, not bookable offers; their prices and availability are not actual. Demo inquiries go to HejBoat, not a fictional operator. Demos will be removed as real listings replace them.
What happens when I submit an inquiry?
The boat operator receives an email and a notification in their HejBoat Dashboard. Your inquiry does not confirm or reserve a booking. You and the operator agree on the details directly. How do I contact HejBoat?
Use the contact form on our Contact page. Messages submitted through the form are read by HejBoat.
Do I need a skipper or a boating license?
Requirements depend on the boat, destination and local rules. Ask the operator whether you need a license, relevant experience or a skipper before agreeing to a trip.
Who handles cancellations, safety and insurance?
You and the operator agree on the rental terms, including cancellations, deposits and safety requirements. Ask the operator what insurance applies and what it covers. HejBoat does not provide insurance or guarantee coverage.
How can I list my boat or tour on HejBoat?
Visit List a boat and choose the option that matches your offer: a privately owned boat, a charter business or boat tours. Create an account and submit your listing. An administrator reviews each listing before publication. Check your details and send your new listing for manual review by a HejBoat administrator. We aim to review promptly, without a guaranteed deadline. It becomes public only after administrator publication. Saving a draft never publishes it.
How much does it cost to list on HejBoat?
The first 250 qualifying boats across all plans get free access until 1 May 2027. From boat 251 onward, the normal full plan price applies. No payment card required for the introductory offer. After that, the private owner plan costs €89 per year, including VAT. The charter business and boat tour provider plans each cost €199 per year, excluding VAT. There is no booking commission. You decide whether to continue with a paid plan. There is no automatic subscription or payment obligation. From 1 May 2027, boats in the introductory offer may continue on a paid plan by choice, or their listing is paused rather than deleted. No automatic subscription or payment.
