Using HejBoat. What You Agree To When You Sail With Us

Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the HejBoat platform, including our website, tools, and any services made available through us. By accessing or using HejBoat, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

HejBoat is a platform designed to connect private boat owners with individuals seeking to rent boats for leisure purposes. We provide the technical infrastructure for listings, communication, and optional subscriptions. However, we do not own, operate, or manage any boats and are not a party to rental agreements made between users.

1. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Denmark. By using the platform, you agree that any disputes shall be subject to Danish jurisdiction.

2. Platform Role and Liability

HejBoat acts as a marketplace that facilitates contact and communication between owners and renters. We do not verify or control the seaworthiness, condition, safety equipment, or legal status of the boats listed. All rental transactions, including payments and usage terms, are agreed directly between owners and renters.

HejBoat does not assume liability for damages, accidents, losses, or disputes that may arise before, during, or after a rental period. While we are committed to a safe and respectful community, each party is responsible for their own compliance and conduct.

3. Insurance Responsibility

Boat owners are fully responsible for ensuring that their vessel is covered by appropriate insurance that explicitly permits rental to third parties. This may include hull insurance, third-party liability, and charter use coverage. Renters must also be informed of what is and is not covered under the policy.

4. Eligibility

Users must be at least 18 years old to create an account, list a boat, or make a booking on the platform.

5. User Responsibilities

All Users

By using HejBoat, you agree to:

  • Provide accurate, up-to-date, and truthful information

  • Respect agreements and communicate in good faith

  • Abide by all relevant laws, regulations, and safety standards

  • Refrain from fraudulent, abusive, or inappropriate conduct on the platform

Boat Owners

You are responsible for:

  • Ensuring your listing is accurate, including availability, pricing, and technical details

  • Maintaining your boat in safe, seaworthy condition

  • Complying with all local and national maritime laws

  • Verifying that your insurance covers peer-to-peer or commercial rentals

  • Only listing boats that you legally own or are authorized to rent out

Renters

You are responsible for:

  • Meeting the necessary licensing and experience requirements

  • Using the boat responsibly and returning it in proper condition

  • Following the owner’s safety instructions and conditions

  • Covering any damage or losses not included in the owner’s insurance

  • Confirming with the owner what is and is not insured before using the boat

6. Payments and Subscriptions

HejBoat does not handle or process rental payments. Renters and owners are responsible for settling payments directly with one another based on mutually agreed terms.

HejBoat currently charges a fixed subscription fee for boat owners who wish to list their boats on the platform. The pricing is transparent and includes monthly or annual options. This model may be adjusted in the future.

Subscription payments are securely processed through Wix Payments and apply only to use of the platform—not to individual bookings.

7. Account Suspension and Termination

HejBoat reserves the right to suspend or terminate user accounts in cases of policy violations, misuse, fraud, or abusive behavior. Listings may also be removed if they are found to be misleading, unsafe, or in breach of these Terms.

8. Modifications

HejBoat may update these Terms from time to time. All changes will be posted on this page with a revised date. Your continued use of the platform after updates constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
